Short Description

The Child Activities Assistant will provide developmentally appropriate play stimulation and comfort to infants children and adolescents based on assessed individual and group needs. The Child Activities Assistant will maintain a clean and safe play environment and will keep supplies and storage areas organized.

Responsibilities:

  • Distributes toys games movies and other activities to pediatric patients; interacts with patients in the playroom or at bedside at a developmentally appropriate level
  • Cleans used/soiled toys daily according to policy; maintains a clean and safe environment in the playroom by checking toys and equipment for safe and proper functioning; records cleaning in daily logs
  • Oversees use and maintenance of electronic gaming equipment in the playroom and patient rooms
  • Organizes and maintains toys supplies and equipment in storage areas; distributes in-kind donations to patients as needed
  • Documents activities and services provided within the patients electronic health record
  • Delegates appropriate duties to volunteers as needed

Experience Required

3-5 years required.

Communication Ability to communicate with patients visitors and coworkers required.

Education Requirements

  • High School/GED required.
  • Associates degree preferred.
  • Psychology Child Development or other related field.

License/Certification Requirements

CPR-BLS preferred.

Special Requirements

Part time 24 hours a week

Shift requirements: varies including evenings and weekends.
