Qualifications:

Ability to follow established procedures and take directions from supervisor

Experience in maintenance and custodial procedures

Ability to efficiently move furniture as needed for setups and meetings

Ability to disassemble/reassemble large furniture as necessary

Ability to follow diagrams of setups to meet the needs of the presenter

Ability to collaborate with others and supervise personnel

Ability to work various shifts and various locations within school district

Ability to maintain emotional stability

Ability to read and comprehend basic operating instructions in English

Ability to comprehend and communicate in verbal and written English

Ability to verbally communicate in Spanish (Preferred)

Ability to write reports

Ability to properly handle cleaning supplies

Capable of using all types of Operations equipment with or without supervision

Physically able to lift transport and position 50 pounds

Demonstrate aptitude for successful completion of tasks as assigned

Basic computer skills: email and word processing

Primary Purpose:

This position is primarily responsible for assisting the Head Custodian with the efficient and safe movement of furniture and equipment and setting up rooms and spaces for meetings events office relocations etc. for daily use. This position ensures that spaces are prepared in a timely clean and orderly manner in accordance with layout instructions and department standards. Additional custodial duties may be assigned as needed.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Move rearrange and transport furniture equipment and supplies within and between buildings or rooms.
  2. Setup rooms for meetings classes events and other functions according to the specific instructions (tables chairs etc.).
  3. Take down and store furniture and equipment after events or meetings.
  4. Oversee and participate in all custodial work maintaining a high standard of safety cleanliness customer service and efficiency.
  5. Maintain an inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment and order additional supplies as needed.
  6. Work from daily work orders calendars to prioritizing tasks.
  7. Determine and assign extra work needed above routine duties.
  8. Perform as fill-in for custodians when necessary (extra area).
  9. Always ensure safe handling and proper lifting techniques.
  10. Interact professionally and work collaboratively with staff to ensure room setup meets expectations.
  11. May be required to work weekend and/or after hour events.
  12. Available on short notice for emergency or overtime work.
  13. Be familiar with fire extinguisher locations and know how to operate them.
  14. Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor.
  15. Supervise and follow established procedures for locking checking and safeguarding the building including turning off lights.
  16. Keep building and premises including sidewalks driveways and common areas neat and clean at all times.
  17. Evaluate in conjunction with Head Custodian all custodians under supervision and help resolve personnel issues.
  18. Assist in training custodians at assigned location in established cleaning procedures and techniques.
  19. Attend mandatory meetings and trainings.
  20. Perform emergency repair or cleaning services as necessary.
  21. Assume additional duties as assigned.

Equipment Used:

Use of carts dollies and other equipment to assist with moving tasks and room setup.

Working Conditions:

Frequent walking standing heavy lifting pushing pulling bending and carrying. Work outside and inside on slippery or uneven walking surfaces. Exposure to hot and cold temperatures dust toxic chemicals materials and bodily fluids. Occasionally ascends/descends a ladder. Frequently positions self to gain access to tight spaces and low areas.
