We have an exciting opportunity for a Workstudent Intern Bachelors/Masters Thesis to join our Research & Development Fire & Life Safety System team within Honeywell Building Technologies. Based in Ratingen this role offers the chance to support cutting-edge innovation initiatives in fire detection life safety and voice alarm systems.

You will contribute to the development of next-generation solutions including adaptive evacuation systems intelligent fire panels and software-enabled compliance tools.

This position is part of our University Relations Program designed to help students and recent graduates launch their careers through hands-on experience mentorship and growth opportunities within Honeywell.

Key Responsibilities:

Support system architecture and software development for fire detection and voice alarm systems including CLSS-enabled platforms and self-test detectors.
Assist in the integration of AI-based features such as false alarm detection dynamic evacuation routing and compliance automation.
Collaborate with system architects and product managers to document fire scenarios and control matrices.
Participate in ideation sessions and contribute to the innovation pipeline for fire software and hardware solutions.

Required Qualifications:

Currently pursuing a Bachelors or Masters degree in Industrial Electronic or Automation Engineeringor a related field.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python C or Java.
Familiarity with embedded systems cloud platforms and IoT protocols.
English C1-C2 German B1-B2.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and effectively within cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of fire safety standards and regulations (e.g. EN54).
Understanding of control systems and building automation technologies.
Prior experience in safety-critical system development.
