Job Summary:

We have an immediate opening for a Compliance Enforcement Coordinator (CEC) in our Office of Administrative Counsel (OAC) Mission Partners Division. This position works under the direction of the Administrative Counsel and provides legal support services to the attorneys in the Office of Administrative Counsel and staff within the Agency in order to assist the mission in protecting and enhancing public health and the environment. The Compliance Enforcement Coordinator requires developed legal research analysis and writing skills a knowledge of legal principles and procedures and an ability to learn internal tracking databases and metrics. This position requires the ability to work independently and with teams and to provide training to staff. The position will interact with the Attorney Generals Office Agency compliance and permitting staff and the Directors Office.

This position is available for remote work on a full-time basis within Arizona (including virtual office arrangements).

Job Duties:

Researching legal issues and drafting correspondence.
Resolving compliance and enforcement cases.
Applying lean principles and the Arizona Management System to measure and improve performance through inventory visibility metrics problem solving events continuous improvement ideas and documenting processes through standard work.
Managing and tracking case referrals from ADEQ to the Attorney Generals Office.
Docketing and managing appeals orders bankruptcies environmental assessments privileged public records reviews and other administrative tasks.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

KNOWLEDGE OF:

The concepts terminology principles and procedures of American law; the methods and techniques of legal research.
The use of statutes codes and other legal resources.
The methods techniques and principles for writing reports and other legal documents in appropriate format.
The functions and jurisdictions of local State and Federal courts.
Legal ethics; court and hearing rules of procedure.
Public Records Law.
Adobe software; Microsoft Office software; G-Suite/Workplace software.
Knowledge of or ability to learn ARS Title 49.
Arizona Management System Processes.
Arizona legislative process.

SKILLS:

Effective oral and written communication.
Finding waste and problems and creatively resolving them.
Prioritizing higher mission impact work.
Drive people to complete action items and increase performance.
Legal interpretation that considers all of the necessary context.

ABILITIES:

Ability to work in a team setting and independently.
Adapt prioritize and perform varied tasks with multiple deadlines.
Use tact and diplomacy to get more done.
Exercise good judgment to minimize risk to the Agency.
Safeguard sensitive information.
Knowledge of or ability to learn and apply LEAN concepts principles and tools used to create and deliver the most value from the customers perspective while consuming the fewest resources and engaging people in continuous problem solving.

Selective Preference(s):

Paralegal or legal studies certification.
2-3 years of legal field experience.
Preferred experience as a project manager.
Drivers License.
