The Homelessness Prevention Administration (HPA) works to keep New Yorkers in their homes. HPA works with the Department of Homeless Services (DHS) the NYC Housing Authority (NYCHA) and many other organizations and City agencies to assist families and individuals in need in obtaining and maintaining stable affordable housing.
The Office of Civil Justice (OCJ) sits within HPA and consolidates the Citys various legal services programs at DSS/HRA and will work to increase the availability of legal services citywide. To do this the Office coordinates with legal services providers; the court system; the advocacy community; elected officials City officials inside and outside of HRA/DSS; policy makers; households in need; and other key stakeholders.
Under the direction of the Team Supervisor the Team Clerical Aide will provide clerical support
services to the Office of Civil Justice.
The Office of Civil Justice (OCJ) is recruiting for one (1) CLERICAL ASSOC III to function as the TEAM CLERICAL AIDE who will:
- Utilize standard office computer applications including word processing data entry and some database management to process memoranda letters reports and other documents for units.
- Retrieve information from HRAs Landlord Internet Site First American database (landlord information) and other database applications used by unit.
- Maintain filing system for confidential case records reports and other materials by arranging materials in alphabetical numerical or other order by retrieving materials as requested in order to facilitate retention and retrieval.
- Forward reports and correspondence to appropriate persons and/or locations.
- Receive screens directs visitors to appropriate agency offices/parties by welcoming questioning and announcing visitors and providing visitors with information.
- Answer telephone take messages and refer and transfer calls to appropriate person that can assist with requested service.
- Complete routine faxing and photocopying of documents as required.
- Coordinate mailings of program information for distribution.
- Perform other related clerical tasks.

Qualifications :
Qualification Requirements
A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a States department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and one year of satisfactory clerical experience.
Skills Requirement
Keyboard familiarity with the ability to type at a minimum of 100 key strokes (20 words) per minute.
