Overview
The Counter-UAS Policy and Communications Team Lead will manage policy development strategic communications and stakeholder engagement for CISAs Counter-Unmanned Aircraft Systems (C-UAS) initiatives. This role ensures compliance with federal regulations coordinates interagency efforts and drives awareness campaigns to mitigate UAS threats to critical infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Policy Development: Draft review and update C-UAS policies guidance and best practices in alignment with DHS and federal standards.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws including FAA and DHS authorities.
- Support vulnerability assessments and risk reduction strategies for federal facilities.
- Strategic Communications:Develop and implement communication plans to inform stakeholders about C-UAS threats and mitigation measures.
- Prepare briefing materials reports and presentations for senior leadership and external partners.
- Coordinate public awareness campaigns and workforce training initiatives.
- Stakeholder Engagement:Serve as liaison between CISA federal agencies state/local governments and private sector partners.
- Facilitate interagency working groups and represent CISA in policy forums.
- Build partnerships to enhance information sharing and collaborative threat response.
- Program Oversight:Monitor emerging UAS technologies and regulatory developments.
- Track program milestones budgets and performance metrics.
- Support procurement and integration of C-UAS solutions where applicable.
- Must have the ability to communicate accurate information
Qualifications
Required:
- U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain/maintain a Secret or TS/SCI clearance.
- Bachelors degree in Public Policy Communications Homeland Security or related field (Masters preferred).
- 10 years of experience in policy development strategic communications or homeland security programs.
- Strong understanding of UAS threats DHS/CISA mission and interagency coordination processes.
- Excellent writing briefing and stakeholder engagement skills.
Desired:
- Experience with FAA regulations DHS authorities and C-UAS technology landscape.
- Familiarity with critical infrastructure protection and risk management frameworks.
- Prior experience in federal government or defense-related communications roles.
