As a Staff Nurse at PHC you will:

  • Collaborate within interdisciplinary teams to deliver holistic patient-centered care.
  • Assess and respond to patients physical emotional social and spiritual needs.
  • Develop implement and evaluate individualized care plans.
  • Provide education and support to patients and their families.
  • Make appropriate referrals to internal and external resources.
  • Contribute to a culture of learning and support among healthcare professionals.
  • Practice in alignment with PHCs mission vision and values.

What You Bring

Education:

  • Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) procedures appropriate for the area of service.
  • Ability to work as a member in an interdisciplinary team.
  • Ability to apply decision making and analytical skills.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Ability to role model conflict resolution strategies.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
  • Ability to teach and identify patient/resident learning needs.
  • Ability to lead patient/family group sessions.
  • Ability to provide clinical direction.

Your Day to Day:

The Staff Nurse:

  • Conducts thorough patient/resident assessments through chart reviews observations interviews and collaboration with peers.
  • Develops implements and evaluates nursing care plans based on evidence-based practices prioritizing patient/resident needs.
  • Adheres to established policies procedures and PHC standards while providing high-quality nursing care.
  • Monitor patient/resident progress evaluate outcomes and adjust care plans as needed for optimal results.
  • Maintains accurate records of assessments care plans patient/resident status and discharge plans using manual and computerized systems.
  • Identifies and address patient/resident and family learning needs providing education and referrals as necessary.
  • Provides direction to staff promote teamwork and share clinical knowledge to enhance patient care.
  • Supports nursing research initiatives and contributes to the improvement of patient/resident care policies and procedures.
  • Advocates for patients/residents rights and dignity facilitates discharge plans and collaborates with families and community resources.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned to support the healthcare team.
