About the position

As a Financial Controller Europe at Flora Food Group you will be a key member of the European Financial Controlling team. Based in our Amsterdam office you will report directly to the Senior Financial Controller Europe and collaborate with a virtual finance team across multiple European locations.

This is an exceptional opportunity for a highly qualified financial controlling professional to strengthen our European organization. We are looking for a true A-player with strong communication skills technical excellence and the ability to drive performance in a dynamic international environment.

You will operate as a trusted business partner articulating financial results insights and strategies to senior stakeholders including the Regional Financial Controller Northern Europe Commercial Finance Manager Global Controlling Team (supply chain treasury tax group finance) auditors and advisors. Your ability to work independently challenge the status quo and lead improvement initiatives will be essential in shaping financial control across the region.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead financial control activities for Europe and drive continuous process improvements.
  • Take ownership for Balance Sheet and P&L reporting across assigned entities.
  • Own the month-end close process ensuring accurate and timely reporting including overhead and cash flow insights.
  • Liaise with senior stakeholders such as supply chain treasury tax and group finance.
  • Ensure local tax and statutory compliance including preparation and submission of statutory reporting.
  • Contribute to end-to-end Record-to-Report (R2R) improvement projects including Financial Statement in-housing Balance Sheet reconciliation and VAT-related enhancements.
  • Communicate financial results and strategies clearly to cross-functional teams and leadership supporting decision-making.
  • Build strong internal and external relationships based on trust expertise and accountability.
  • Identify improvement areas and lead change initiatives to enhance financial processes and controls.
  • Make a visible impact by elevating the financial control organization and strengthening best practices across the region.

So what does it take to be successful in this role

  • You have outstanding communication skills and the ability to translate complex financial data into clear insights.
  • 10 years of experience in financial controlling and/or plant controlling within an international environment.
  • A masters degree in finance or accountancy; a professional qualification (e.g. Certified Accountant) is desirable.
  • Strong technical knowledge in core accounting Financial Accounting and Controllership/Record-to-Report.
  • Solid expertise in IFRS and external audit requirement and experience working with SAP (S4Hana) and Blackline is preferred.
  • Ability to independently drive month-end processes statutory and compliance tasks overhead and cashflow forecasting and other financial control activities.
  • A proactive detailed-oriented hands-on mindset with a passion for continuous improvement.
  • Strength of character ownership and accountability.
  • Comfortable operating in a dynamic fast-paced environment where your contribution directly impacts the organization.
