Parking Services at Virginia Tech is dedicated to providing convenient and efficient parking solutions for students faculty staff and visitors. With a focus on accessibility and safety our team ensures a seamless parking experience on the campus. The Parking Services Operations Technology Specialist provides technical support for our parking management software systems. This includes but is not limited to:
Maintain update and troubleshoot the parking management database and supporting software and hardware systems.
Implement operational platforms and software including working with vendors and consultants testing system functionalities suggesting improvements and proposing solutions to meet user needs.
Perform hardware and software updates for parking enforcement-related technologies including license plate recognition cameras body cameras mobile devices and portable printers.
Serve as point of contact for technology and as liaison with vendors and manufacturers.
Provide system implementation maintenance and user training.
Access and export data for review by university officials.
The incumbent will be required to work occasional evening and weekend hours to support special events. The incumbent may also be required to travel to satellite facilities occasionally.

Required Qualifications
Education
Bachelors degree in business information technology or related area or an equivalent combination of formal training and experience.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Working knowledge of fundamental concepts practices procedures and guidelines related to database software applications.
Proficiency in general computer skills including use of Microsoft applications such as Outlook Word Excel and PowerPoint.
Strong attention to detail.
Excellent organizational interpersonal business communication and time management skills.
Ability to work independently and to act as resource for novice system users.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience using parking-related databases and systems preferably experience with T2 systems
Experience providing technical support for license plate recognition (LPR) cameras body cameras mobile devices and portable printers.
Experience integrating and synchronizing data across multiple databases (data integration).
Hands on experience with parking enforcement.
Experience in a university setting.
