Duties: Job Summary: The Registered Nurse (RN) protects promotes and optimizes health and abilities prevention of illness and injury and the alleviation of suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human response and through advocacy in the care of individuals and families. The RN is responsible and accountable for compliance to all standards of practice and professional development in accordance with the New York State Nurse Practice Act United Health Services policies ANA Scope and Standards of Practice Code of Ethics for Nurses and the Bill of Patient Rights. The RN promotes a caring and healing environment for patient-centered care. Job Responsibilities: -Assesses plans delegates coordinates implements and evaluates nursing care in managing a group of patients serving as a primary nurse and/or accountable nurse when designated by unit assignment and consideration of factors related to safety effectiveness competency cost and impact. -Educates patient and family in health promotion and disease management using available resources. -Utilizes a working knowledge of pharmacology and safely administers medications according to UHS Hospitals policy. -Shares in responsibility for productivity and effective resources utilization including staffing time management supplies and services. -Complies with all nursing practice standards regulatory requirements and UHS policies. -Actively participates in and supports the Nursing Shared Governance Model by supporting the Unit Council participating in improvement initiatives and contributing to peer review practices. -Actively engages in professional development continuing nursing education and completing all mandatory education requirements. -Integrates nursing research and current evidence into practice. -Provides a supportive learning environment for new employees and students. -Performs duties related to the Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator role when assigned. -Participates in the Clinical Ladder Program as knowledge and expertise develops. -Will perform other duties as assigned.
Skills: Required Skills & Experience: -Six (6) months three (3) years of Nursing (RN) experience. -Collaboration. -Communication (verbal & written). -Judgement/Critical Thinking. -Organizational Understanding. -Planning (Organizing Time Management). -Problem Solving. -Quality. -Reliability. -Safety and Risk Management. Preferred Skills & Experience: -Previous clinical nursing experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting.
Education: Required Education: -A graduate of an accredited school of Nursing. Preferred Education: -Bachelor s of Science degree in Nursing. Required Certifications & Licensure: -Current New York State Registered Nurse License. -BLS Certification (AHA HSI or American Red Cross). -Unit-specific requirements are listed in the Compliance Matrix - please validate prior to candidate submission. Preferred Certifications & Licensure: -CCRN. -Relevant skills certification (i.e. ACLS PALS TNCC) as required by home unit assigned.
