Description
Humboldt Senior Resource Center is looking for a full-time Electronic Health Record Specialist to support our Redwood Coast PACE program. This position will support users in multiple sites. The schedule is Monday through Friday.
JOB SUMMARY: The EHR Specialist plays a critical role in supporting the effective use of the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system across the Redwood Coast PACE program. This position serves as the primary resource for EHR-related training troubleshooting and workflow optimization. Acting as a liaison between internal staff and the EHR vendor the EHR Specialist ensures that system functionality aligns with organizational needs and promotes efficient compliant documentation practices. The EHR Specialist has a strong background in healthcare technology excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving and user support.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide first-line technical and functional support to staff to help them navigate the EHR and utilize its features effective traveling to the different sites as needed.
- Troubleshoot and resolve common EHR system and workflow issues.
- Collaborate with agency HIPAA and IT personnel to assign appropriate staff permissions develop access protocols and conduct regular audits of staff system access to ensure compliance with privacy and security regulations.
- Submit and track system bugs and performance issues to the EHR vendor.
- Develop and deliver comprehensive EHR training programs for new hires and existing staff. Work with staff to identify training needs and develop customized training plans.
- Conduct ongoing training sessions and workshops on the EHR to enhance staff proficiency and address evolving system functionalities. Conduct training in a variety of settings including groups online and on-the-job at different sites. Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and make adjustments where needed.
- Create and maintain user-friendly training materials such as PowerPoint presentations handouts and screen recordings.
- Provide individualized support and coaching to staff on specific EHR workflows.
- Analyze current EHR workflows and identify areas for improvement.
- Serve as the primary liaison between PACE and the EHR vendor. Communicate effectively with vendor representatives regarding system issues and requests. Negotiate and advocate for PACEs needs and priorities.
- Stay abreast of the latest EHR system updates features and best practices to provide proactive guidance to staff when changes are made.

- Additional duties may be assigned as needed that align with the responsibilities of the position and support the vision mission and values of the organization.
Qualifications
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Bachelors degree in healthcare informatics health information technology health care administration or a related healthcare field preferred.
- 3 years of experience working with EHR systems in a healthcare setting required.
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES:
- Valid California Drivers License and personal auto liability insurance required. Must have a personal vehicle in good driving/operating condition insured for State minimum liability requirements and that can be used for the applicable job functions noted above
PRE-SCREENING REQUIREMENTS:
- This position requires the successful completion of a background check.
- A current Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) is required to determine eligibility for driving on behalf of the organization.
- Preferred COVID-19 and Influenza (flu) vaccinations.

- Gathers relevant information evaluates options and makes timely sound decisions while identifying root causes and implementing solutions.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires the ability to work in an office environment with frequent use of computers keyboards and other standard office equipment. The EHR Specialist must be able to sit for extended periods perform repetitive hand and wrist movements and engage in frequent communication by phone video and in person. Driving between different work sites is required to provide in-person support. Occasional standing walking bending or reaching may be required while providing training or technical support. The role may also involve moving or carrying training materials or equipment weighing up to 20 pounds.
