The Opportunity


Reporting to the Manager Measurement Services Canada the role will be based in Calgary AB and will be working closely with our partners in Field Operations and Commercial organizations.

As a Business Analyst within our Measurement Data Integrity team you will apply your knowledge and experience within a collaborative team environment to manage and assess the quality of measurement data daily. The accuracy of our data directly impacts our customers bottom line and respectively this role demands high attention to detail and is data intensive. Further the data that we manage are used throughout the organization from operating the pipeline system and validating energy balance to managing customer volume allocations and emissions reporting.

What youll do

  • Daily evaluation and management of data from field equipment used for the calculation of physically metered volume and energy quantities

  • Identify various levels of data integrity risk and partner with engineering and field operations to appropriately address asset risk(s).

  • Engage with customers and interconnecting operators to gather information to resolve measurement issues or manage temporary facility outages.

  • Participate in month end activities to finalize measurement data to meet multiple monthly deadlines.

  • Provide support to stakeholders on areas of expertise such as measurement imbalance root cause measurement equipment failure trends and data reporting to regulatory bodies.

  • Provide feedback to department processes and documentation and adopt a continuous improvement approach

  • Develop and maintain excellent customer service standards confidentiality and working relationships with producers connecting operators and internal partners.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Business Accounting or Math.

  • 2 to 6 years of experience related to Numerical Analytics Natural Gas Measurement Commodity Scheduling Field Operations Nominations and/or Gas Control.

  • Demonstrated analytical risk management and negotiation skills with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Consideration will be given to individuals with other combinations of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to measurement field equipment and natural gas scientific principles (i.e. fluid dynamics gas chemistry and behaviours)

  • Exposure to working with or reporting information to Energy Regulators (i.e. CER AER Petrinex systems)

  • Understanding of Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin (WCSB) and TC Energys NovaGas Transmission Ltd (NGTL) System.

  • Experience in developing RPA bots (Robotic Process Automation) and PowerBI dashboards and reports.

This position requires candidates to

  • Occasionally work extended workdays to complete month end closing deadlines

  • Maintain a valid drivers license for occasionally travel to other company locations (10%).

  • Participate in rotating weekend coverage within the Measurement Data Integrity Team
