Position: Rehab/ Wellness Aide
Supervisor: Inpatient/Outpatient Clinical Supervisor Director of Clinical Rehabilitation Services
Hours: Part-time Monday - Friday
Pay Rate: $15.50 per hour
Able to properly follow written or verbal directions provided by therapist using good judgment recognizing patient/resident fatigue and safety.
Readily accepts additional assignments and volunteers to assist co-workers and participates in department/facility programs and/or events.
Maintains open lines of communication with supervisor and co-workers.
Demonstrates proper universal precaution techniques.
Demonstrates a complete knowledge of body mechanics.
Regularly maintains work area and equipment in a neat and orderly manner and keeps shelves and closets stocked with appropriate supplies.
Assists in daily cleaning of equipment and furniture.
Responsible for wheelchairs/specialty chairs (i.e. Broda) to include cleaning prepping for new admissions monitoring/auditing to ensure chairs are in good working order and alert when new chairs may need to be ordered.
Make sure linen racks are full and maintained.
Assists in toileting patient/resident during or post therapy sessions.
Assists in transporting patients/residents safely and timely to and from ancillary services via wheelchair/stretcher or accompanies ambulatory rehab patients/residents.
Provide exercise instruction for LTC wellness programs.
May access medical record on unit to file evaluations and progress notes for therapies.
Assists therapist/assistants with group sessions as directed by carrying out given instructions and/or assist patients/residents with tasks.
Aide will be able to transfer patients/residents requiring supervision to minimal assistance by using appropriate transfer techniques and assist therapist when transfers require moderate to total assistance of one or two persons.
When needed assists with clerical/secretarial coverage within department including telephone contact copies typing charges statistics filing scheduling and errands.
Assists in maintaining adequate inventory of stock items for department including but not limited to linens; medical and clinical supplies; exercise supplies; kitchen supplies; and clerical supplies.
When asked by therapist/assistants properly prepares patients/residents before and after treatments. Informs when patient/resident is ready.
Assists the therapist/assistants when working in gym area for patient/resident set up (i.e. orthotics slings; and assists in ambulation transfers and mat exercise programs).
Conducts audits for gait belts slings lifts bed rails and others as directed. Tracking information and providing it to supervisors quarterly.
Assist therapist with patients/residents as needed during program and to help set up and implement therapy program activities and equipment.
Performs duties according to the highest ethical and moral standards and in adherence with the facilitys corporate compliance plan and all applicable governing laws. Adheres to the facilitys confidentiality statement in accessing and safeguarding protected health information (PHI) of residents and employees as necessary to perform job duties.
Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisor to enhance department functions and operates as smoothly and efficiently as possible.
High school graduate or equivalency. Should be at least eighteen years of age. Certified in CPR.
Interests in exercise programming are ideal.
