Job Title: Coordinator of Attendance & Engagement

Job Summary:
The Coordinator of Attendance & Engagement is an important district role responsible for developing implementing and overseeing comprehensive strategies to enhance student attendance foster strong family and community engagement and leveraging data for informed decision-making across Socorro Consolidated Schools. This position serves as a critical link between families schools and community resources actively addressing barriers to attendance and ensuring that district-wide efforts are data-driven equitable and aligned with our Student Outcome Focused Governance (SOFG) framework.
Essential Functions:
- Attendance & Engagement Leadership:
- Develop implement and oversee the implementation and evaluation of comprehensive district-wide attendance initiatives policies and intervention programs in alignment with state truancy laws and district goals.
- Lead the identification of root causes for absenteeism collaborating with school administration counselors social workers and directly serve as a link between families schools and community resources to address barriers to attendance.
- Manage and prioritize a caseload of students identified with chronic absenteeism which may include conducting home visits to understand and address individual family needs and challenges.
- Coordinate supports for families by connecting them with appropriate district and community resources (e.g. health services social services transportation housing assistance).
- Ensure accurate and timely recording of student attendance data across all schools and monitor analyze and act on attendance data using relevant systems to identify trends and evaluate intervention effectiveness.
- Host workshops and cultural events to increase awareness of the importance of attendance and build strong collaborative relationships with families.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for truancy-related issues working closely with legal entities and external partners as necessary and ensuring compliance.
- Support the process of preparing comprehensive attendance and engagement reports to the School Board Superintendent and other relevant stakeholders.
- Data Coordination & Analysis:
- Conduct statistical analysis of educational demographic attendance and operational data to identify correlations predict trends and inform strategic planning.
- Provide actionable insights and recommendations to district leadership school principals and instructional staff.
- Ensure strict compliance with all federal (e.g. FERPA) and state data privacy regulations.
- Strategic Leadership & Collaboration:
- Align attendance engagement and data strategies with the districts strategic plan Goals and Guardrails.
- Collaborate regularly with site leaders and attendance secretaries to identify student and family needs root causes and intervention strategies to support families and improve student attendance.
- Contribute to the districts continuous improvement efforts.
- Stay current with emerging trends and best practices in attendance management family engagement educational data analysis and relevant technology.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: Associates Degree from an accredited college or university in Education Educational Leadership Data Science Public Administration Social Work or a closely related field.
- Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of successful experience in an educational setting including significant experience in data analysis attendance management and/or family/community engagement.
Preferred Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
- Experience working with student information systems (SIS) assessment platforms and dedicated attendance management software.
- Experience in designing and implementing intervention strategies for student attendance.
- Understanding of attendance best practices truancy prevention and intervention strategies.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English highly preferred
- Organizational and project management skills.
- Excellent written verbal and presentation communication skills with the ability to convey complex information and data to diverse audiences.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and collaborate effectively with students families school staff community partners and legal professionals.
- Cultural competency and sensitivity to work effectively with families from diverse backgrounds.
- Knowledge of state and federal education laws particularly those related to student attendance data privacy (FERPA) and family rights.
- Problem-solving orientation proactive approach and a commitment to continuous improvement.
PHYSICAL LEVEL RATING: This position will require the employee to function at a medium physical capacity as defined by Workmans Compensation statutes. Medium physical capacity indicates the ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally or up to 25 pounds frequently.
