Using available CADD technologies the Survey CADD Technician produces project related engineering and survey drawings plans exhibits electronic files and otherdeliverables in support of ADOTs 5-year Construction Program and is responsible for ensuring CADD Standards are utilized to ensure standardized delivery of surveys and plans.
This position will utilize computerized and aerial mapping techniques and programs will be responsible for the interpretation of plans field survey and aerial/drone data to prepare topographical maps and engineering data. Additional responsibilities include coordinating the survey and engineering data output with the other team members; inputting reviewing and verifying a variety of survey records and technical documents to ensure completeness and accuracy in the developments of the maps.
This position performs field data collection or research as needed.
This position may offer the ability to work remotely within Arizona based upon the departments business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

| Job Duties: |
Inputs and verifies design and field survey data into CADD Workstations using Microstation In-Roads/Open Roads software to create CADD design or survey files in preparation of survey design and construction documentation. This includes constructing editing and delivering 3D models models (DTM) alignment (ALG) and topographic map files quantities roadway/terrain cross-sections and profiles Reviews and verifies survey design and construction plans for use in compiling drawings exhibits maps and electronic files. May assist in performing field survey and data collection tasks as necessary to compile or verify accuracy of data for use in preparing survey or design files/drawings.
Operates computers to input field and design data to create drawings exhibits maps electronic files following ADOT drafting and CADD Standards. Collection of data may be collected with a variety of equipment including scanners total stations GPS aerial drones CADD generate modeling software and redlines. Performs analytical evaluations of data and reviews results for completeness and accuracy of CADD deliverables using CADD/Microstation software.
Researches and interprets a wide variety of data such as survey notes field survey control maps aerial photographs topographic/cultural/elevation features and as-built plans. Compiles this data and information for use in preparing CADD survey or design files and deliverables. May assist in project related meetings and field observation meetings to gather data/conditions and to operate survey equipment as necessary. May be responsible for checking and maintaining calibration and operation of instruments and equipment.
| Knowledge Skills & Abilities (KSAs): |
Knowledge of:
*Knowledge of CADD technologies and software such as MicroStation In-Roads or Open Roads (and other related MicroStation products and Trimble Business Center software) GIS geographic and cartographic techniques used in the production of CADD Mapping and Plan Preparation for the design of highway projects.
*Thorough understanding of ADOT CADD drafting standards and how data is used in the design of highways and in the analysis and interpretation of a variety of engineering and survey data.
*Knowledge of digital evaluation algebra geometry and trigonometry.
Skill in:
*Analysis of computer results and resolving problems in the verification of engineering and survey data.
*Mathematical calculations and modeling use of computer hardware (CADD workstations and personal computers) and software (Windows Microstation Trimble Business Center).
*Google Workspace (Gmail Drive Chat Calendar Slides Sheets Docs).
Ability to:
*Identify existing and proposed ground surfaces enter collected and design data and ensure accuracy of the final product work with others in a team environment and teach/train peers and team members.

*Ideal candidate has 8-15 years of relevant survey CADD technician experience.

This position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job and the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current valid class-appropriate drivers license complete all required training and successfully pass all necessary drivers license record checks. The license must be current unexpired and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to drivers license record checks must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R.11).
A valid drivers license is required if the incumbent is to be an authorized state driver.
