Lab Network Engineer II

POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking a skilled and motivatedLab Engineerto support the Spokane Product Development Lab. This role plays a critical part in enabling both production systems and flexible testing environments for our Test and Product Development teams. You will be responsible for setting up configuring and maintaining lab infrastructure including Linux systems network devices and virtual environments. This is a hands-on role that offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies and collaborate with talented engineers across the organization.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Set up configure document and maintainLinux and Windows systems network devices and virtualization platforms in the lab.

• Performnetwork cabling rack setup and physical infrastructure planning.

• Configure and managenetworking components including VLANs routing switching and firewall rules.

• Deploy and managevirtualization technologiessuch asVMware OpenStack KVM and XCP-ng.

• Maintain and optimizestorage systemsused in lab environments.

• Perform regularaudits of configuration and inventory datato ensure accuracy and compliance.

• Create and maintainscripts and toolsto automate lab configuration provisioning and usability.

• Troubleshoot and resolvelab and network outages hardware failures and system performance issues.

• AddressHelpdesk ticketsfrom lab users in a timely and professional manner.

• Collaborate withIT and Facilitiesteams to resolve connectivity power and cooling issues.

• Participate in thedesign monitoring and improvementof lab services and infrastructure.

• Ensure properdocumentationof lab systems configurations and operational procedures.

• Own and manageend-to-end lab operations ensuring high availability scalability and security of lab environments.

• Perform Regular audits of labs Server racks Power Stock Maintenance in lab.

• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Strong experience inLinux and Windows systems administration.

• Hands-on experience withenterprise networking: switch configuration VLANs routing protocols and firewall rules.

• Experience withstorage technologiesand capacity planning.

• Scripting and automation skills usingPython Bash or similar languages.

• Understanding ofweb technologiesincluding HTTP HTML and JavaScript.

• Solid grasp ofIP networking fundamentals: L2 L3 and L4L7 protocols.

• Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software issues independently.

• Experience withlab infrastructure planning including cabling power and cooling.

• Proficiency invirtualization platforms: VMware OpenStack KVM XCP-ng.

• Experience withInfobloxfor IP address management and DNS/DHCP services.

• Familiarity withNetwork Configuration Manager (NCM)for device configuration backups.

• Exposure toswitching authenticationprotocols (802.1X RADIUS TACACS).

• Experience indata center environments(production or dev/lab).

• QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelors degree in computer science Engineering or related field (or equivalent work experience)

• 5-7 years of experience in enterprise network environments & Physical Lab Understanding

• 3-5 years of experience with virtualization platforms

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

• Experience with python or other scripting is a plus

• Strong problem-solving decision-making and communication skills

• Ability to quickly learn and adopt new technologies

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Duties may require occasional work outside normal hours (evenings/weekends).

• Work performed in a lab or office environment with regular use of computers and lab equipment.

• May involve physical tasks such as racking hardware cabling and lifting equipment.

• Should be available in on-prem lab location for any Hands-on requirements for Product Development Teams
