Analyst, Intellectual Property, Advisory Summer 2026 (Ocean Tomo, a part of J.S. Held)

We are seeking an Analyst to join our Intellectual Property team. This is a unique opportunity for an entrepreneurial highly driven person with a well-rounded skill set to join the Intellectual Property team whose responsibilities extend beyond those of traditional Analyst. The ideal person for this role will need to not only have a strong grasp of the Intellectual Property industry but also be flexible and a strategic thinker able to take on a variety of tasks. 

Job Responsibilities:

• Perform and synthesize in-depth industry technology and company-specific research

• Review organize analyze and summarize financial marketing and other documents produced by clients

• Build detailed financial models (i.e. discount cash flow comparable market/transaction weighted average costs of capital)

• Develop and communicate clear takeaways from such information with consideration for qualitative and quantitative factors

• Write detailed persuasive reports and prepare PowerPoint presentations

• Communicate effectively with an array of team members including senior leaders and clients in a structured and thoughtful manner
• Successfully manage working on multiple concurrent often vastly different engagements

Qualifications :

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in finance or accounting required engineering or technical background is a plus
• Academic success minimum 3.5 GPA
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel Word and PowerPoint
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• High degree of professionalism integrity flexibility
• Exceptional analytical skills
• Ability to work well in a team environment
• Progress towards relevant certifications is a plus such as CFA CPA ASA etc.

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Relevant work experience in investment banking private equity M&A corporate finance and/or intellectual property preferred

Physical and Mental Job Qualifications

• Must be willing to work in person in our Chicago IL office on a hybrid schedule.

A reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role is $85000 - $100000. Any offered salary range is based on a wide array of factors including but not limited to skillset experience training location scope of role management responsibility etc.
