Compass Government Solutions is seeking a Nuclear Medicine Technologist to provide services at the Alexander T. Augusta Military Medical Center at Fort Belvoir Virginia

This opportunity is part of a proposal effort. We are currently accepting applications from experienced candidates to be considered if the contract is awarded.

Schedule:
8 Hour Duty day between the hours of 6 AM and 7 PM. Hiring for all shifts. 

Job Duties:

 

  • Maintain all required certifications in current status at all times. Failure to renew any certification before its expiration will result in suspension from work. All renewal costs are the responsibility of the contract employee.
  • Possess basic understanding of computer use keyboarding. DHCN uses electronic medical record.
  • The Contract HCP performing under this Contract shall be able to read write speak and understand English well enough to effectively communicate with all patients and other health care providers.
  • The contractor shall report to work rested and fully physically and mentally capable of performing the duties required.
  • Contractor HCP personnel found to be unacceptable in administering skills required by the 
  • Contract shall be immediately released from duty by the Contracting Officers Representative (COR). The COR will immediately notify the Contracting Officer.
  • Shall have the ability to maintain composure and positive rapport while relating to patients and families.
  • Shall have the ability to react with alertness and skill in any emergency situation. Assess patient conditions for potential or life-threatening crises.
  • Shall have knowledge and ability to perform assessments treatments and care of adolescents pediatric and geriatric patients.
  • Possess knowledge in Nuclear Medicine Technology. Contractor must have acquired experience that has provided familiarity with patient care age specific care anatomy physiology and Pathophysiology. Possess experience with nuclear medicine imaging modalities to include planar SPECT and PET. Possess knowledge of multiple manufacturers imaging systems to include computer programs for acquisition and processing collimators system safety devices and peripherals. The individual must be able to follow institutional SOPs for acquisition processing archiving and networking studies. Possess the ability to perform non-imaging studies and measurements.
  • Perform diagnostic imaging and non-imaging services to patients of all ages upon referral.
  • Serves as a medical team member on an assigned shift. Responsible for direct patient care as well as coordination with professional paraprofessional inter and intra disciplinary medical team members in total patient care activities. The technologist must be able to initiate emergency measures and notify physicians when necessary.
  • Independently performs the following imaging procedures: bone lung renal thyroid liver cardiac antibody imaging and localization studies for tumor infection and sentinel nodes. 
  • Independently performs the following non-imaging procedures: thyroid and whole body uptakes Schillings tests Total Blood Volumes Urea Breath tests and GFRs.
  • Receives patients and satisfactorily completes patient and/or family member education. 
  • Individual performs patient transfers and patient positioning IAW Service policy. Selects and sets technical factors sets-up and adjusts accessory equipment required and creates images for the requested procedures cited in subparagraph above IAW Service policy.
  • Performs phlebotomy to include by not limited to establishing IVs and performing radiopharmaceutical and pharmaceutical injections. Administer nuclear medicine radiopharmaceuticals and pharmaceuticals including oral intramuscular and IV push under the supervision of the Service physicians.
  • Shall have the ability to set up and monitor patient through 12 lead EKG stress testing including application of 12 lead EKG monitor pads and application leads. EKG Rhythm identification and interpretation.
  • Performs all necessary nursing functions associated with a nuclear medicine study to include by not limited to the of taking vital signs placing cardiac leads removing urinary catheters and oxygen monitoring.
  • Performs clerical functions necessary to process patient records through the Nuclear Medicine Service
  • Perform procedures as ordered to assure that adequate safeguards are maintained both radiologic and physical safety and recognize equipment malfunctions. Recommend method to improve patient and staff safety.
  • Properly label all images with the study name anatomical view directional and image criteria where applicable IAW Service policy.
  • Properly labels all images and study documentation with the patients identification and date IAW Service policy.
  • Continually monitors patients conditions for potential medical or life threatening crisis.
  • Maintains professional competency involving clinical skills and knowledge through participation in professional radiologic technology organizations self-directed journal readings and attendance at in- services and continuing education programs.
  • Completes Service forms and reports accurately and promptly when appropriate.
  • Prints hard copies of images and/or transfers them to work / viewing stations.
  • Performs quality control procedures on all imaging and support equipment.
  • Performs all educational functions assigned as part of the formal educational programs based in the Service. To include but not limited to leading and/or participating in continuing educational lectures

Qualifications :

  • Be able to read write speak and understand English well enough to effectively communicate with all patients and other health care providers.

Education:

  • Completed a formal education - twenty-four (24) months in length or equivalent - as recommended by the Joint Committee on Education in Nuclear Medicine Technology which has been approved by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA).

Certifications:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Nuclear Medicine (ARRT-N) or a Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification board (CNMT) credential.

Experience:

  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in clinical applications within the last two (2) years.
