JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) provides the full spectrum of anesthesia services independently without anesthesiologist supervision in alignment with Kansas state scope of practice laws. Working in a rural critical access environment the CRNA supports inpatient outpatient emergency and procedural care across a variety of clinical departments. This advanced practice nurse plays a vital role in ensuring safe evidence-based and compassionate anesthesia delivery for surgical and procedural patients.
Duties may include but are not limited to:
Independently evaluate patients preoperatively to determine appropriate anesthesia plans.
Administer general regional and monitored anesthesia care across multiple specialties.
Perform and manage airway techniques including endotracheal intubation and LMA insertions.
Place and manage regional anesthesia blocks (spinal epidural peripheral nerve blocks).
Manage intraoperative anesthetic care continuously adjusting for patient needs.
Provide post-anesthesia recovery evaluation and management.
Partner with rural surgical teams emergency staff and specialty providers to coordinate care.
Participate in patient safety initiatives case reviews and quality improvement efforts.
Educate patients and families about anesthesia plans risks and postoperative recovery expectations.
