The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) is seeking a Principal Accountant serving as the Accounting Supervisor to lead and oversee the General Ledger Revenue/Accounts Receivable Property and Inventory functions. This position is responsible for supervising staff directing daily financial operations ensuring timely deposits billing customers and external entities and accurately tracking WYDOTs property and inventory. By managing these essential financial activities this role enables Financial Services management to focus on policy development regulatory compliance reporting requirements and ensuring the overall accuracy and completeness of financial data in PeopleSoft and WOLFS. The work performed by this position is critical to WYDOTs ability to maintain financial data integrity which supports agency personnel in maintaining Wyomings highway bridge and telecommunications infrastructure to ensure the safety of the traveling public.

PREFERENCES:
Preference will be given to candidates with supervisory or leadership experience particularly those with a strong understanding of governmental accounting standards (GASB) fund accounting and financial reporting.
Preference will be given to candidates with an accounting degree fiscal audit experience including preparing workpapers and financial statements for audits as well as advanced Excel skills (vlookups pivot tables macros etc.). Ideal candidates will have hands-on experience with PeopleSoft Financials and WOLFS (the States accounting system).
A proven ability to oversee multiple financial functions including general ledger accounts receivable property and inventory.
Strong analytical and reconciliation skills experience developing or improving financial procedures and internal controls.
The ability to communicate clearly and professionally with staff leadership and external agencies is highly valued.
A collaborative leadership style that promotes accuracy accountability and team development is preferred.
