Job Summary and Responsibilities
The Psychiatric Mental Health Family Nurse Practitioner is a professional registered nurse with advanced education and training in primary care of the adult and pediatric and mental health throughout the lifespan. The PMHFNP is responsible for providing medical and psychiatric care to patients under the medical supervision of the Clinic Medical Director/designee.
Performs under the responsibility and supervision of a physician assessments diagnostic and therapeutic tasks and procedures with acknowledgement of the patients age. They will plan prescribe and treat in accordance with written protocols and within the area of competency of his/her supervising physician. Reports to the supervising physician for all medical concerns and to the Area Director for others.
This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of the Organization. It is expected that the employee demonstrates behavior consistent with the Core values
Job Requirements
- Masters degree in Nursing (MSN) with a specialization as a Nurse Practitioner. Graduate of PMHNP Certificate program.
- RN:CA; RNP:CA; BLS-CPR; DEA:CA; PMHNP
- Professional and extensive knowledge of physical assessment psychiatric mental status exam differential diagnosis pathophysiology pharmacology and psychopharmacology.
- Able to take medical history assess medical conditions and interpret findings. Able to prepare and maintain records write reports and respond to correspondence.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with patients clinical staff and the public.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with patients and the medical team.
- Ability to work independently adhering to supervision and collaborative practices
Preferred
- Nurse Practitioner registration with the State of California Board of Registered Nursing. Current registered nurse licensure by California BRN.
- PALS; ACLS; 2 years of pain management experience/ orthopedic surgery/sports medicine/neurosurgery/neurology/physical medicine and rehabilitation. National Certification preferred
