SUMMARY:
The Board of Directors (Board) is legally and ethically responsible for all activities of the organization. To that end the Board determines how the organization will carry out its mission through long and short-range planning. The Board adopts an annual budget and provides fiscal oversite. The Board recruits orients and develops board members. The Board hires and evaluates the performance of the Chief Executive Officer. The Board evaluates its performance and the overall performance of the organization in achieving the mission. The Board establishes policies for the effective management of the organization.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
and promotes the organizations vision mission and values.
with the organizations programs policies and operations
board meetings and appropriate committee meetings.
serves on at least one committee and offers to take on special assignments.
agendas and supporting documents prior to meetings.
an annual contribution to the organization commensurate with ability.
in fund raising activities and special events.
current on community healthcare issues and developments in program areas.
adheres to conflict-of-interest policies.
adheres to confidentiality policies.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Must speak English.
TIME COMMITTMENT
and actively participate in at least 75% of board meetings (12 monthly boardmeetings approximately 2 hours in length on the 1st Monday of the month except December)
and actively participate in committee meetings and related work (1-3 hours permonth as determined by the committee)
and actively participate in the annual planning retreat (1 day)
special events such as fundraisers and groundbreaking ceremonies.
new board member orientation (approx. 3-4 hours)
with potential donors/funders to make a case for funding the organization answer questions etc. (approx. 4 hours annually)
7. Interacts appropriately with diverse populations and different community groups. Sensitive to multicultural issues.
FINANCIAL AND RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT EXPECTATIONS
Make an annual gift commensurate or significant according to your circumstance to the organization (to achieve 100% board giving)
Sell tickets to fundraising events.
Recruit sponsors as needed.
Identify and cultivate potential donors.
