Position Overview

As the Microbiology Lab Supervisor you will manage daily operations oversee staff and ensure accurate and timely testing within a high-complexity clinical laboratory environment. Youll play a vital role in workflow management regulatory compliance and quality improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise daily microbiology lab operations

• Monitor workflow to ensure accuracy efficiency and turnaround time

• Train mentor and evaluate laboratory personnel

• Oversee quality control equipment maintenance and proficiency testing

• Ensure compliance with CLIA CAP OSHA and company policies

• Validate and implement new microbiology tests and instrumentation

• Troubleshoot technical issues and optimize testing processes

• Review interpret and release microbiology test results

• Maintain accurate documentation and data integrity

• Manage inventory of reagents media and lab supplies

Qualifications

• MLS (ASCP) certification required

• Tennessee Supervisors License required

• Bachelors degree in medical laboratory science or related field (or equivalent per CLIA/TN standards)

• Minimum 5 years supervisory experience in a clinical lab

• Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills

• Ability to work independently and maintain high-quality standards

• Knowledge of microbiology testing methods and laboratory best practices

Preferred Skills

• Experience in an independent reference lab

• Strong leadership and communication skills

• Familiarity with LIS systems

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
