Research Associate
(Environmental protection and green development)
Purpose of Role
The Research and Development Department of Ellinogermaniki Agogi () designs and implements research projects aimed at introducing and disseminating innovation in educational practice. These projects address multiple dimensions of innovation including the organizational changes required in school operations the redesign of curricula with an emphasis on 21st-century skills the use of advanced technologies to support teaching and to document learning outcomes and the design of flexible teacher training schemes.
Within this framework Ellinogermaniki Agogi invites expressions of interest for the filling of two (2) full-time positions in its Research and Development Department with responsibilities including:
Key Responsibilities
  • Management of research projects in the thematic areas of environmental protection and green development.
  • Design of educational material for implementation in school settings.
  • Development of cross-curricular and interdisciplinary educational activities.
  • Coordination of a network of schools implementing the above actions.
  • Organization of professional development workshops for teachers in Primary and Secondary Education.
Skills Qualifications and Experience
Academic background and prior experience in as many as possible of the following:
  • Degree in the broader field of Environmental Sciences (indicatively: Environmental Scientist; Environmental Engineer or Engineer with specialization in environmental topics; Agronomist or Forester; Geographer; Food & Nutrition Systems: sustainability waste reduction environmental impact healthy diets).
  • Postgraduate degree (Masters) in Environmental Education or in Educational Sciences.
  • Experience in designing educational materials and programmes.
  • Experience in managing requirements of European-funded projects.
  • Familiarity with contemporary technologies for communication collaboration and learning.
  • Excellent command of Greek and English with strong professional written and oral communication skills.
  • Very good interpersonal and communication skills.
Additional assets (will be positively considered)
  • Professional experience related to Environmental Education.
  • Familiarity with the concept and methodologies for strengthening green skills and more broadly 21st-century skills.
  • Familiarity with the thematic areas of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals the priorities of the European Green Deal FOOD2030 and the pillars of the New European Bauhaus.
  • Familiarity with procedures for European research funding and implementation of related projects.
  • Doctoral degree (PhD) in the broader field of Environmental Sciences or in Environmental Education.
  • Demonstrated interest and willingness to rapidly acquire knowledge and develop practical skills related to the above where prior experience may be lacking.
