Lead Engineer
Nottingham Woodthorpe Hospital
Full Time 37.5 hours per week
Shifts - 8-4 or 7-3
The site on which Woodthorpe Hospital now stands has provided healthcare to the people of Nottingham since 1877 and is conveniently located towards the north of Nottingham city centre with excellent on-site parking facilities and access to public transport nearby.
Today we are a modern well-equipped hospital with 41 private bedrooms (all en-suite) andtwo operating theatres. We are constantly developing our services and are proud of our comprehensive range of specialist departments and the high standard of care that they allow us to offer all of our guests.
Responsibilities
- Act as the Engineering primary day to day customer interface
- To ensure the Engineering Planned Preventative Maintenance Routine has been completed as detailed in the Standard Operating Procedure manuals (MMS). The level of undertaking of each Engineer will be based on the competency level established and ongoing internal development will enable working towards providing a comprehensive PPM coverage across the whole site with Engineering Technicians
- Feed back on findings to enable a continuous improvements of planned Maintenance & Maintenance Techniques working towards a condition based maintenance regime
- Provide feedback and direction on the Standard Maintenance Manual to Engineering Manager
- Provide advice and support on Health and Safety along with maintenance testing and assisting in delivering the practical element of Fire systems training
- Completing the Fire Risk assessment with assistance from external specialist provider Hospital Managers and other Engineering colleagues
- Ensure response to all reactive calls
- Ensure all Statutory Insurance Inspections are undertaken and remedial tasks resolved within Cluster
- Escalate reactive calls which require specialist involvement to resolve
- To attend and support H&S or Infection Control meetings as requested by site
- Ensure that the site is safe and working effectively by maintaining Health & Safety requirements
- Respond effectively and timely to ad-hoc customer requirements
- Provide advice on technical and compliance issues affecting the site to clinical and non clinical staff
- Ensure all Corporate led Engineering initiatives are implemented within Ramsay sites
- Carry out Portable Appliance Testing (PAT Testing) as required for all portable equipment used throughout the hospital at intervals defined by both policy and Risk assessment
- Arrange and be available to participate in on-call out of hours cover for Woodthorpe (1 week in 3)
- Be available to work in any other agreed Ramsay location to assist in Engineering absence cover
- To carryout spare part stock take when required
- Advise Engineering Regional Lead and Group Estates Manager on external contracts
Decision Making Authority
- Prioritisation of breakdown against planned maintenance
- Take part in arranging provision for on-call service for Ramsay hospitals
- Arranging out of hours work to complete service level in conjunction with Engineering Regional Lead
- Working inside company standards and guidelines
- Working inside Statutory requirements and escalating failures
- Authorisation and sign off of Permit to Works
- Use of Contractors in conjunction with Regional Lead
- Attend to call-out request
Key Accountabilities:
- Ensure all work has been carried out in a safe and competent manor
- Local engineering responsibility for the site and within designated Ramsay sites
- Effectively plan and communicate with Contractors and Service Engineers as required to undertake work with minimal disruption to hospital services
- Ensure all Engineering logs and paperwork are completed and filed in the appropriate locations in an accurate MMS system updated in a timely and diligent fashion
- To cover holidays and sickness of other Engineering Technicians responsibilities.
What youll bring with you
- Experience in line managing in a Maintenance Environment post apprenticeship or qualifications gained.
- Experience in managing and co-ordinating Contractors and Service Engineers
- City& Guilds Part 1/2 NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent preferably in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering essential
- Time served apprenticeship in a Mechanical or Electrical biased discipline preferred
- Fire safety or Fire Risk Assessment training desirable
- Understanding of Quality Management customer satisfaction and the continuous improvement process
- Duel or multi-skilled with the core preferably Electrical
- Comprehensive understanding of Health and Safety guidelines and applicable law
- Understanding of Legionella prevention requirements within Hospital buildings
- Excellent written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Sound fault finding techniques
- I T aware / competent
