Provides lymphedema treatment for patients participates in patient and family teaching and provides leadership by working cooperatively with other healthcare team members. Collaborates with physicians and other health care workers to assess plan implement and evaluate patient care while maintaining standards for professional physical/occupational therapist practice in the clinical setting. Successful performance contributes to a holistic approach to the delivery of services improved patient care and a high level of satisfaction from patients and families.

Responsibilities
Provides and coordinates care and treatment for lymphedema patients
Completes documentation to assure an accurate record of patients care.
Utilizes critical thinking in making independent judgment and maintains responsibility for the knowledge of conditions of assigned patients.
Collaborates with physicians and other professionals in planning and implementing care within hospital policy and legal limitations.
Assesses needs of patients and families and makes the necessary referrals to community agencies to provide continuity of care.
Demonstrates professional development by keeping abreast of current lymphedema treatment practice and healthcare trends.
Utilizes a holistic approach (considering physical psych/social spiritual educational safety and related criteria) appropriate to the age of the patients served in the assigned service area.
Demonstrates the ability to consistently meet the department work schedule.
Consistently delivers high quality care demonstrating knowledge and clinical skills of lymphedema in accordance with established policies and procedures and standards of care.
Demonstrates knowledge of reimbursement guidelines: maintains responsibility for accurate and timely coding and filing of insurance claims.
Develops and utilizes both professional and public written educational materials.
Provides ongoing promotion of lymphedema program.
Qualifications
Education: Graduated from an accredited PT OT or PTA program.
Experience: Knowledge of reimbursement issues and procedures. Two years of therapy experience preferred.
License(s)/Certification(s): Valid drivers license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons. Current Iowa license to practice as an occupational therapist physical therapist or physical therapist assistant. Certification in CDT from approved program. LANA certified as a Certified Lymphedema Therapist (CLT-LANA) preferred. On yearly basis will obtain 10 direct CEUs or contact hours in lymphedema specialty area.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Excellent Communication. Problem Solving. Team Work. Multicultural sensitivity. Microsoft Office basic computer skills. Customer/patient focus. Critical thinking skills using independent judgement in decision making. Must be able to communicate effectively with people of diverse professional educational and diverse lifestyle backgrounds.
