At the Faculty of Engineering and Science AAU Energy a position as Assistant Professor in Electrochemical Energy Storage is open for appointment from 1st of May 2026 or soon hereafter. The duration of the position is 3 years between 1st of May 2026 to 30th of April 2029.
Your work tasks
The position is offered in relation to the research group Sustainable Power Electronics and Electrification and the Assistant Professor will be positioned to the section for Power Electronics System Integration and Materials.
Research will focus on the electrochemical and performance-degradation characterization of lithium-ion and post-lithium-ion batteries as well as solid oxide electrolysis cells (SOECs). The role also includes developing performance models and state-of-health estimation algorithms for these technologies. We expect the candidate to be actively involved in preparing both individual and consortium grant applications.
Teaching will primarily be in battery and SOEC energy storage technologies but also in other study groups at the University.
Your competencies
The ideal applicant has a PhD in Electrical Engineering or Material Science with application to electrochemical energy storage technologies. The applicant should document expertise in all the following topics:
Furthermore the candidate should demonstrate hands-on experience with different material characterization techniques such as: SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy) Raman Spectroscopy XRD (X-ray diffraction) XPS (X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy). The candidate should have an interest in advancing fundamental understanding while contributing to applied research outcomes.
Qualification requirements
Appointment as assistant professor requires academic qualifications at PhD level. The research potential of each applicant will be emphasized in the overall assessment.
