About the Role
Canadian Blood Services is looking for atemporary (3-year term) and a regular full-time Manager Strategic Financial Management to join our dynamic Strategic Financial Management team.

The Strategic Financial Management team works with business leaders across Canadian Blood Services to provide financial insights into critical investment decisions evaluates financial performance and forecasting and manages funding to ensure responsible stewardship of the blood system.

Reporting to the Director Strategic Financial Management the Manager Strategic Financial Management provides end to end financial leadership for large high impact strategic and capital projects from business case development and productivity analysis to budgeting forecasting and performance reporting.

The role partners with senior leadership (L0L2) and cross functional teams (IT Finance Procurement General Counsel and field operations) to support and deliver product costing benchmarking and corporate and capital planning insights. With their team the manager designs and improves budgeting forecasting reporting and project management processes and systems to deliver timely relevant data that strengthens business intelligence decision making and efficiency. Success in the role requires excellent written and presentation skills and developing a deep understanding of Canadian Blood Services complex operations including supply chain flows key cost drivers core data sets and enabling IT systems.

Formula for success

  • Apply businesscase and costbenefit expertise to translate requirements (equipment supplies contracts structure staffing) into accurate forecasts for critical investment decisions.
  • Collaborate with senior management (L0L2) in planning forums to understand and influence strategic direction.
  • Support projects and business areas with project management international benchmarking budgeting reporting and forecasting.
  • Manage daytoday financials to ensure compliance with CBS guidelines and identify costsaving opportunities.
  • Conduct processimprovement analysis and help define financial and nonfinancial KPIs.
  • Manage reporting and adhoc analyses; provide required financial and administrative support to projects and business areas.
  • Identify gaps in financial/process reporting for the productivity and efficiency program leveraging budget forecast planning and reporting systems to streamline data availability.

Desired education and skills

  • Education and designation Bachelor degree in a relevant discipline and a CPA (or legacy CA/CMA/CGA) required.
  • Experience and leadership 5 years in progressively senior financial analyst/FP&A roles; ability to lead and mentor staff.
  • Systems and Tools Proficient with SAP (or equivalent ERP) including FI/CO MM and WM; advanced TM1/Planning Analytics user an asset; advanced proficiency with spreadsheets and report writing/BI tools.
  • Analysis and business acumen Strong analytical skills and understanding of business/financial structures; able to relate complex operational and financial data; demonstrated abilities supporting large IT or physical infrastructure projects.
  • Communication Able to summarize complex information clearly and present well supported analysis and insights in writing and verbally up to executive members.
  • Collaboration Strong interpersonal skills; client focused; effective working independently and as part of a team; comfortable engaging management at all levels (L0L2).
