Job Description:
The Senior Associate Technical Writer / Editor will be responsible for gathering composing and editing technical information to prepare flight manuals maintenance manuals and other technical documentation for our warfighters. The Technical Publication Writing / Editing team is a group of professionals committed to providing quality and timely publication deliverables for commercial and government projects in a dynamic environment.
Essential Functions:
- Understand engineering principles reading schematics and/or wiring diagrams.
- Review illustrated parts catalogs/maintenance manuals/flight operation/mission systems/Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (ICA) documents for commercial and/or Air Force Army or Navy programs.
- Ensure that all documentation adheres to industry standards and best practices as well as relevant DoD and FAA regulations and guidelines.
- Work closely with the management team and other stakeholders to stay updated on project budgets timelines milestones and deliverables.
- May manage project budgets with general supervision.
- Proficiency in using Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office.
- Strong working knowledge of ATA100 ATA iSpec 2200 MIL-PRF-38807C MIL-STD-2361C and MIL-STD-37874. S1000D.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks or projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- A proactive and self-motivated approach to work with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Strong writing editing and proofreading skills with the ability to communicate complex technical information clearly and effectively.
- Familiarity with data marking formatting and handling of documentation.
- Ability to multi-task and set priorities.
- Proficient with MS Office products and Adobe Acrobat.
- Clearly and succinctly communicate orally and in written form.
- Effective organizational skills Detail oriented self-starter.
- End User experience in the Military/DoD industry.
- Proficiency with FrameMaker.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret DoD Clearance.
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree with two (2) years of technical writing and editing experience.
- Graduate Degree with zero (0) to two (2) years of technical writing and editing experience.
- In Lieu of a degree a minimum of six (6) years of technical writing and editing experience.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
