Position Description:
The Department of Arts & Humanities at MidAmerica Nazarene University (MNU) a faith-based university in Olathe Kansas invites qualified candidates to apply for the position of Adjunct Instructor of Voice. The candidate should have the training and ability to teach voice lessons at the collegiate level and also at the MS and HS level. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and to Christian education.
We are looking for a vocal instructor who can begin teaching in the Spring 2026 or Fall 2026. All work is contractual by semester and based on student demand. Contracts could include teaching private applied voice lessons to MNU music majors (B.M.E. B.A. Music B.A. Music and Worship and B.A. Theatre with Musical Theatre Emphasis) non-music majors and to MNU Community Arts Academy students (All ages from the community). Additional contracted work may include participation in Voice Studio class participating in grading juries at the end of each semester and potential other work in the department depending on experience and qualifications.
Position Reports to: Chair Department of Arts & Humanities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach applied voice lessons (Could include Music Majors Non-Majors and Community Arts Academy students)
- Participate as a grader in Music Juries each semester
Qualifications
Educational Qualifications/Skills Required:
A successful applicant will share the universitys mission of Christ-centered transformation a commitment to excellence and innovation and possess the following:
- Masters degree or higher in Voice Voice Pedagogy or related field
- Course work should include: Diction Voice Pedagogy and Vocal literature
- Experience should include performing and teaching in some of the following: musical theatre classical opera and contemporary worship music
- Excellence in teaching and student supervision
- Excellent communication skills and timeliness
