Die Cast Engineering & Die Maintenance Manager

The person selected for the Die Cast Engineering & Die Maintenance Manager position will be responsible for safety quality cost delivery manpower and continuous improvement objectives of the Die Cast Engineering Department consisting of Die Cast Engineering and Die Maintenance for the Die Casting area in a multi-cultural environment. They will also be responsible for coordinating all Engineering and Die Maintenance activities related to the High-Pressure Aluminum Die Cast area which includes planning equipment set up training troubleshooting and overall improvement of the die casting processes including melting casting trimming finishing shot blast and various other processes. The person selected will also be responsible for working with other departments to achieve company goals and targets to ensure viability and the long-term success of the company.

Essential Job Duties

• Investigation/countermeasure of machine problems.
• Work with Production & Maintenance on problems downtime issues and improvement projects.
• Document setup procedures technical instructions and PM instructions.
• Troubleshoot machine problems controls problems and quality issues.
• Understand interpret and modify programs machine drawings electrical drawings.
• Provides engineering services to assigned area of responsibility.
• Performs programming for casting and related equipment.
• Analyze process and equipment problems for long term solutions.
• Continuous Improvement of assigned area processes.
• Assesses spare part problems and makes appropriate changes.
• Prepares detailed equipment specifications.
• Generates reports as required for process development or troubleshooting.
• Other duties as assigned by Manager

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelors Degree preferably in Engineering or Technical field
• 5 years experience in a High Pressure Die Cast environment preferably in the Automotive Industry
• Familiar with and understanding of Die Cast Shot monitoring systems
• Knowledge of TS / IATF requirements
• Solid work history and willingness to successfully function in a team environment.
• Strong math and computer skills.
• Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of personnel.
• Ability to read understand modify and develop part and machine drawings
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to apply mechanical principles in various troubleshooting activities.
• Must be proficient in Windows based software packages.

Desirable Skills and/or Training

• Leadership experience
• Strong math and computer skills
• Experience with CAD
• Experience in Japanese Automotive environment

Must be able to effectively use a computer and other electronic devices to view and prepare business documents and communicate with others. This includes but is not limited to Windows based software applications (Excel Word Power Point Outlook) Internet customer websites printers and other tools and applications.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems collect data establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

• When in production area employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles; and risk of electrical shock. The plant environment can be the Die Cast Department employees must be aware of molten aluminum and hot surfaces.

  This position will be evaluated upon previous work experience training or education related to the addition final candidates will be rated on interviews communication skills performance attendance and testing.
