The Role
We are seeking a motivated Intermediate Electrical Designer/Engineer to join the team focusing on the design and delivery of electrical systems for commercial and residential buildings. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on complex projects develop your technical expertise and grow within a supportive and dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare electrical design drawings specifications and calculations using industry-standard software (e.g. AutoCAD Revit BIM).
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including senior engineers mechanical designers and project managers to deliver integrated solutions.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant codes standards and regulations (e.g. BS EN IEC CIBSE ASHRAE).
- Conduct site surveys and support feasibility studies to inform project planning.
- Assist in the commissioning and handover processes to ensure system performance and reliability.
- Contribute to project documentation and coordinate with clients and stakeholders as needed.
- Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies in data centre and critical systems design.
What Were Looking For
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 35 years of experience in electrical design preferably with exposure to data centres critical systems or similar infrastructure projects.
- Experience delivering electrical design projects from concept to completion.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Revit or other relevant design software.
- Knowledge of power systems including MV/LV distribution UPS and backup power solutions.
- Familiarity with industry standards for data centre design (e.g. Uptime Institute TIA-942) is an asset.
- Experience with BIM (Building Information Modelling) is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code provincial building codes and standards including CSA ULC IEEE IES and NFPA.
Soft Skills:
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills for collaborating with project teams and clients.
- Ability to manage tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Eagerness to learn and grow under the guidance of senior team members.
Certifications:
- Have a designation or working toward Professional Engineer status () or equivalent professional Accreditation.
