Job Summary
This is a remote position.
Job Title: Ingres Database Administrator (Ingres DBA)
Location: Remote
Duration: 12
Visa: USC GC GC-EAD H4-EAD
Experience Level: 10 years (Minimum 3 years hands-on in Ingres DB Administration
Key Responsibilities:
- Install configure and upgrade Ingres Database Server and related tools.
- Perform database monitoring performance tuning and query optimization.
- Ensure database availability reliability and security.
- Manage database backups restores replication and disaster recovery plans.
- Handle data migration version upgrades and patch management.
- Implement and maintain user access controls and data integrity standards.
- Troubleshoot complex database issues and provide timely resolution.
- Work closely with application and infrastructure teams to support integration and deployment.
- Generate database performance reports and implement improvements.
- Maintain documentation for database configurations procedures and standards.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Strong experience in Ingres database administration (Actian Ingres / OpenIngres).
- Expertise in Ingres tools utilities and command-line operations.
- Solid understanding of SQL database tuning and query optimization.
- Knowledge of UNIX/Linux environments including shell scripting.
- Familiarity with backup and recovery utilities and high availability setups.
- Experience with migration projects (e.g. Ingres to PostgreSQL/Oracle or cross-version upgrades) is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in working within ITIL-based support environments.
- Exposure to cloud or hybrid infrastructures (AWS Azure or GCP).
- Prior experience with Cognizant or large enterprise clients (optional).
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or a related field.
