Why your role matters

The Administrative Officer provides high-level executive support to the Director Nura Gili and the Nura Gili leadership team ensuring efficient delivery of services that meet the units operational needs. This role manages general administration and operational activities including financial and people resources and ensures compliance with university policies and procedures. It requires sound judgement initiative and technical expertise to respond to complex enquiries and make informed decisions.

The position reports to the Director Nura Gili and supports the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Indigenous with no direct reports.

Specific accountabilities include:

  • Proactively provide executive support and assistance whilst exercising discretion initiative and confidentiality at all times.
  • Contribute to a positive and dynamic Nura Gili community informed by culturally affirming values experiences and shared aspirations by communicating and collaborating effectively.
  • Proactively undertake diary email document and committee management for the Director Nura Gili monitoring and prioritising emails and assisting in the preparation of responses.
  • Provide high-level effective specialist advice relating to administrative guidelines processes and activities as well as the interpretation of university policies and procedures.

About You:

  • This position is open to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander applicants only.   • Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education training and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to create positive vibrant and respectful relationships. A lived understanding of the opportunities and challenges relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander education.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a high level of attention to detail for deliverables produced.
  • Superior time management skills with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to liaise effectively with all levels of staff and external stakeholders.
  • Proven organisational skills and the ability to operate autonomously while demonstrating strong initiative and a proactive approach to driving process improvement.
  • Advanced level of computer literacy working with a range of computer systems and applications with excellent skills in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting and contributing to projects and initiatives.
