The role

This role is all about leading a team of compliance specialists who dig into complex issues tied to major development projects across the state. Youll be guiding investigations making sure environmental and planning conditions are being met and stepping in with regulatory action when needed. Its hands-on fast-paced and focused on delivering smart sustainable outcomes.

Youll be juggling high stakes matters that often come with technical depth and public scrutiny so being able to cut through complexity and balance competing interests is key. From mentoring your team to managing external experts shaping policy and improving systems youll be right at the centre of driving better compliance outcomes that make a real difference.

What you will bring to the role

  • Detailed knowledge of legislation and policies governing land use planning and regulation
  • Strong ability to work to tight and / or shifting deadlines.
  • Proven ability to lead and support a high-performing team through complex compliance investigations and regulatory action.
  • Strong analytical skills to navigate technical issues and deliver clear outcome-focused solutions under pressure.
  • Confidence in managing sensitive high-profile matters while balancing stakeholder expectations and competing interests.
  • Experience in mentoring staff coordinating external experts and driving continuous improvement across systems and processes.
  • Strategic mindset with a practical approach to shaping policy and ensuring environmental and planning conditions are upheld.

What is an essential requirement:

  • Degree qualification in planning environmental management engineering or other relevant discipline.
