What does a Water Operator do
Picture a plumber fixing a burst pipe in your house. Now think about a leaking pipe in the street.
Same problem. The only difference is youre keeping your communitys water supply running.
As a Water Operator youre regularly outdoors. Youre digging trenches inspecting pipelines and repairing broken water services.
Youre learning a collection of skills that can set you on your way to a technical management or leadership role.
Your main concern is keeping the water supply network running. Thats finding and fixing faults on pipes and joints.
Its upgrading the water supply network and its understanding the end-to-end water cycle and how water networks help your local community.
You will be playing a big part in maintaining some of the 56800km of pipelines that stretch across WA.

As a Civil Operator youll be working outdoors maintaining and repairing water and wastewater infrastructure. That means digging trenches inspecting pipelines and fixing faults in water and sewer services pump stations and tank sites.
Youll play a vital role in keeping Western Australias water supply running smoothly helping maintain part of the 56800 km of pipelines across the state.

What youll need to apply
Youll be out and about so a WA MR class drivers licence is essential. If you already hold a high-risk licence confined space certification or a construction white card chances are youve got some outdoor work experiencewhich is a great start.
