Qualifications:
- Missouri State Teaching Certificate
- Masters Degree in Educational Administration or Athletic Administration (or equivalent)
- Successful teaching experience at the secondary level required; five or more years preferred
- Background in athletics and/or activities
- Head coaching leadership or administrative experience preferred

Reports to: High School Principal
(In coordination with the Superintendent for matters impacting district programs staffing and budgets)
General Expectations:

- Properly supervise students at all times if applicable to essential job functions.
- Obey all safety rules including rules protecting the safety and welfare of students.
- Care for properly use and protect school property.
- Maintain courteous and professional relationships with students parents/guardians other district employees and the public.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors department staff all members of the school district and community as required.
- Provides excellence in customer service both internally and externally.
- Complies with privacy rights and safeguards confidential and/or sensitive information pertaining to staff and students.
- Reacts to change productively and receive and transmit constructive criticism as it relates to job duties.
- Actively participate in professional development and obtain skills and information necessary to effectively perform job duties.
- Conduct all official business in a professional and timely manner utilizing district technology resources.
- Arrive to work and leave work at the time specified by supervisors and attend all required meetings pertinent to the position.

- Read and interpret documents such as work orders safety rules and handbooks and apply to job duties.
Essential Functions:
- Provide vision and leadership for athletic and activity programs in alignment with Board policy and the District Improvement Plan.
- Oversee and coordinate all MSHSAA-sanctioned activities student organizations and clubs within the high school.
- Schedule and coordinate athletics drama music and organizational events to ensure appropriate facility use and prevent conflicts.
- Serve as the primary contact for parents students staff community members booster clubs and the media regarding athletics and activities.
- Promote programs through traditional and digital communication platforms and maintain active involvement in COC and SWMO AD organizations.
- Manage daily operations of the Activities Office and coordinate closely with building and district administration.
- Advertise screen and recommend candidates for athletic and activity positions; assign supervise and evaluate coaches sponsors and directors.
- Provide orientation training and professional development for coaching and activity staff.
- Aid with development and manage both short-term and long-term budgets for athletics and activities.
- Oversee purchasing inventory and equipment bidding processes for all sports and activities.
- Collaborate with administration and the Booster Club on fundraising advertising sponsorships and partnership initiatives.
- Contract officials and assign workers for home contests including gate workers scorers timers supervisors and announcers.
- Coordinate and supervise night and weekend activities and assist in maintaining general student discipline in collaboration with building administrative staff.
- Coordinate transportation for all MSHSAA activities and manage logistics for pep buses and travel events.
- Work with the district facilities supervisor to maintain safe and functional athletic and activity facilities.
- Secure athletic trainers and emergency medical services for events.
- Ensure compliance with MSHSAA and NCAA guidelines including student eligibility physicals insurance and consent forms.
- Administer the districts voluntary drug-testing program in accordance with state regulations.
- Publish distribute and update the coaches handbook athletic code and related documents.
- Review athletic schedules to ensure equity appropriateness and balance for student participants.
- Collaborate with the Junior High Activities Director to align programs and provide continuity across grade levels.
- Coordinate and oversee summer athletic and activity camps.
- Promote and support student participation in all extracurricular programs.
- Foster school and community pride through effective communication events and public relations.
- Secures contracts for the use of practice and game facilities between the City of Carthage and the Carthage R-9 School District.
- Reviews all athletic schedules with administration and coaches contracting games as needed.
- Initiates requisitions for the issuance of checks for officials supervisory personnel transportation and entry fees.
- Carry out all other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands
- Requires mobility across athletic and activity venues and the ability to supervise in various environments.
- Work involves irregular and extended hours including evenings and weekends.
- The work environment is typically consistent with a standard school office setting. However the position also requires routine outdoor duties which may involve exposure to a wide range of weather conditions.
- The employee must be able to lift 25 pounds.

Regular and consistent attendance is an essential function of this position.
