Legal Administrative Assistant - Litigation
Location:Toronto
Salary: $55000-$70000
Our client is a litigation boutique law firm with offices in multiple Canadian cities. The firm specializes in insurance class actions and health law and its lawyers regularly appear before all levels of court including the Supreme Court of Canada. Many of the lawyers are members of multiple law societies across the country.
They are currently hiring a junior or Intermediate Litigation Legal Assistant to join their Toronto office. The ideal candidate is motivated a quick learner and eager to contribute to a collaborative and friendly team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage legal administrative tasks from file opening to closing
- Draft pleadings application records books of authorities appeal records and appeal books in accordance with Ontario Superior Court and Court of Appeal requirements
- Prepare correspondence and file documents with court registries
- Communicate with opposing counsel experts and clients
- Maintain BF limitation dates
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of Legal Assistant experience experience in Insurance Defence required
- Legal Administrative Assistant Certificate
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to meet deadlines under pressure with a positive attitude
- Detail-oriented organized and proactive
- Capable of multitasking and adapting to changing priorities
- Able to work independently and collaboratively
- Proficient in MS Word and quick to learn new software
- Familiarity with Ontario Superior CourtRules of Civil Procedureand related court forms and filing procedures
- Experience with ProLaw is an asset
