Job Summary

Position Description:

The Medical College of Wisconsins Department of Department of Radiology is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide primary and specialty medical care within defined scope of practice under the supervision of a licensed physician and in accordance with MCW/FMLH/CHW policies and procedures. The Department of Radiology prides itself on the delivery of world-class diagnostic and interventional radiology services. We use state-of-the-art imaging equipment and our faculty radiologists are national leaders in the development and use of new imaging technologies located in Milwaukee WI at Froedtert Hospital & Froedtert Hospital Community Sites.

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) works as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team who will contribute to excellence in program administration patient care patient safety research quality improvement and teaching.

The Ideal Candidate will be a Radiologic experienced APP with technical proficiency collaborative t4eam player and a passion for healthcare impact wanting to be part of a thriving and very collaborative academic practice at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW). Areas of responsibility will include but not be limited to providing direct patient care to an adult patient population in a blended environment.

In this role you will:

  1. Collaborate with interdisciplinary health care teams in diagnosis and treatment of conditions requiring Radiologic intervention in blended environment as a member of the Radiology department.
  2. Perform advanced treatments and/or radiology procedures following verification of competency as indicated by the radiology department.
  3. Collaborate with primary care providers specialty care providers and/or inpatient providers to provide comprehensive patient care.
  4. Participate in pre-procedural intra-procedural and post-procedural patient care.
  5. Provide patient care as part of a multidisciplinary team in the department of radiology.
  6. Participate in activities that contribute to the education of healthcare professionals including one on one education group education committee participation formal presentations and/or publishing.
  7. Participate in the assessment development implementation and evaluation of quality improvement programs standards of practice patient education policies and/or procedures.
  8. Act as preceptor/educator for PA students NP students medical students and/or residents and fellows.
  9. Report to Radiology APP Manager.

Core Advanced Practice Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive histories and physical exams identifies normal and abnormal findings including physical cognitive and psychosocial status.
  • Order perform and interpret screening and diagnostic procedures and tests and appropriately communicates and documents information.
  • Write accurate and timely progress notes procedure notes and/or admission and transfer orders.
  • Develop pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical treatment plans.
  • Monitor effectiveness of plan of care.
  • Educate patients on disease and treatment plans.
  • Perform procedures as trained and appropriately credentialed.
  • Document within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and completes other necessary documents.
  • Collaborate and/or consults with physicians and other health care providers as appropriate.
  • Educate counsels and assists patients and families regarding current health problems health maintenance activities and preventive behaviors.
  • Attend required training and meets key regulatory requirements including those of the privileging institution CMS and the Joint Commission.
  • Acquires information on the most current development and trends in the Physician Assistant field and/or Nurse Practitioner field through educational programs in-services professional associates and current literature.

Preferred Experience: Previous Radiology experience desired.

Minimum Education:

Advanced Practice Nurse: Masters Degree or higher in Nursing
Physician Assistant: Bachelors Degree or higher in Physician Assistant Studies

Minimum Requirements: *or eligible

Advanced Practice Nurse Physician Assistant

Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner Wisconsin Physician Assistant License

Wisconsin RN License Certification by NCCPA

Wisconsin Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber License AHA ACLS AHA BLS DEA

Adult Care and / or Acute Care Preferred

Will consider Family Practice and/or Geriatric NP

AHA ACLS AHA BLS DEA
