National Jewish Health is seeking a part-time School Nurse to join the Morgridge Academy team a free K-8 school located on our campus that serves children with chronic health conditions. This important role supports student wellness and helps remove health-related barriers so children can learn in a medically safe environment. The School Nurse manages medication administration provides health education and acts as a trusted resource for staff students and families throughout the school day.
Key Responsibilities:
- Promote an optimal level of wellness to enhance the educational process of students.
- Manage medication administration and delivery of physician-ordered procedures during the school day.
- Serve as a knowledgeable health resource for staff students and parents.
- Communicate effectively with parents physicians and school staff regarding student health needs.
- Develop and teach health education classes to students.
- Evaluate and document the effectiveness of nursing interventions.
- Ensure availability and maintenance of necessary medical supplies and equipment.
- Attend student field trips to provide nursing support as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality of student health and related information.

Essential Duties
- Assesses and treats students per physician orders.
- Assesses and treats day to day medical needs of the students.
- Develops and teaches Health Education classes to students.
- Provides a resource to educational staff in regards to specific students medical needs.
- Educates school staff about medical conditions affecting the learning ability of students.
- Communicates with parents and/or physicians as needed.
- Participates in research projects initiated by medical research staff.
- Evaluates and documents effectiveness of nursing interventions.
- Provides safe nursing care.
- Conducts routine and necessary physical screening such as: vision height and weight.
- Ensures all necessary and required medical supplies and equipment is available and maintained properly.
- Attends field trips with students.
- Maintains student confidentiality and any other confidential information obtained during performance of duties.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
