JOB DESCRIPTION: Library and Technology Support Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY:

  • The Library and Technology Support Specialist provides district-wide technical and operational support for school librarians and media staff. This role serves as a liaison between the Technology Department and library/media programs across the district. The specialist provides front-line triage for support requestsparticularly those related to the Alexandria library system and IncidentIQand assists with general technology support as assigned. This position is not assigned to a single school site and will support all schools based on district priorities.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Library and Technology Support Specialist:

  1. Serves as the primary point of contact between the Technology Department and school library/media specialists. *
  2. Assists librarians in submitting and tracking technology support requests in IncidentIQ. *
  3. Assesses and resolves basic technical issues related to Alexandria Chromebooks printers and other devices used within the library/media environment. *
  4. Supports Chromebook repair efforts under the guidance of the Technology Department. *
  5. Provides general technology support beyond library/media systems as assigned. *
  6. Serves as a point of contact for parents regarding concerns or questions related to Chromebook repairs providing guidance on procedures timelines and available support. *
  7. Travels regularly to schools across the district to provide on-site assistance. *
  8. Documents support activities resolutions and equipment usage within district systems. *
  9. Collaborates with technology staff to support new initiatives and ensure smooth operation of instructional and library-related technologies. *
  10. Maintains confidentiality and upholds district policies on data security and appropriate use of systems. *
  1. Participates in professional growth (such as professional organizations coursework workshops and conferences) and other professional activities (such as school and/or District committees taskforces in-depth studies or councils). *
  1. Follows the policies and procedures of the school and the District. *
  1. Demonstrates a sense of professional responsibility such as demonstrating ethical behavior; providing accurate data and reports when needed; meeting deadlines; maintaining confidentiality; caring for the equipment and materials; and dressing appropriately and presenting a good role model. *

SKILLS KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Ability to use effective communication skills; strong working knowledge of Alexandria Library Management System and IncidentIQ; ability to use time effectively and prioritize multiple tasks; good organizational skills; ability to maintain a positive relationship with other staff by collaborating and working cooperatively with them (including supervisors); and basic technical troubleshooting experience (Chromebooks printers peripheral devices knowledge of physiological.

ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS:

Work Experience: Experience supporting staff in a K-12 school environment; familiarity with Chromebook hardware; and interest is expanding support scope beyond library systems.
