The Opportunity:
The Advisor Safety reports to the Manager Safety and is responsible for implementing Occupational Health and Safety strategies systems and initiatives that integrate safety as a core business value that is consistent across the this role you will facilitate a culture of Occupational Health and Safety vigilance accountability ownership awareness and leadership across the workplace.
Responsibilities:
- Site based role required pre-start presence
- Coordinate the health and safety systems within the project including identifying hazards assessing risk
- Recommend appropriate safety controls to the construction team and provide advice on incident prevention and occupational health to management and employees.
- Ensure the effective implementation of Safety Management Systems
- Identify review and analyse high-risk activities in conjunction with the appropriate personnel and recommend an approach to be taken
- Actively ensure that subcontractors and suppliers are complying with legislative client and the alliances work health and safety and environmental requirements
- Be actively involved in the investigation and debrief of all Lost Time Injuries and critical incidents that occur on the project
- Assist with the timely response to client-raised issues taking the opportunity to build positive relationships with said client
- Have a consistent presence at pre-start meetings
Required Skills and Competencies
Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety or similar
Minimum 3 years experience in a similar project based role post qualification
Demonstrated experience in a Civil/Rail Infrastructure project environment
Previous experience in incident investigation ICAM experience highly desirable but not essential
A comprehensive knowledge of Victorian OHS legislation and processes including competence in the implementation of OHS change initiatives
