Two years of experience in information technology; OR

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any area. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any area.

A certification in an approved area may be substituted for the education and/or experience requirements at the time of hire or promotion provided the appointment is made from a Certificate of Eligibles.

Job Duties:
Assumes lead responsibility for the day-to-day administration and maintenance of messaging and/or directory services for multiple state agencies supported by the
Office of Technology Services (OTS).
Coordinates the installation maintenance and modification of vendor-supplied software for messaging or directory services related products which is critical to
business functions and may require after-hours scheduling due to extensive availability requirements.
Recommends and implements standards policies and procedures related to messaging and/or directory services for an enterprise messaging system and
directory service.
Consults regularly with vendors concerning software and/or hardware problems resolutions and system performance.
Advises and consults with end-users administrators technical support personnel and consultants designing and providing documentation instruction problem
analysis and education pertaining to specific and highly complex areas of software performance.
Assists in the consolidation of all messaging and/or directory service environments within the scope of the State IT consolidation effort. Provides problem analysis
and specialized technical expertise to end-users administrator technical support personnel and management consultants. Mentors lower level team members.
Facilitates knowledge transfer and training.
Provides problem determination for incident reports by the user community for the various departments pertaining to messaging and/or directory services. This
includes hardware and software problems in the messaging or directory services environment and/or related systems. Follows up with users when necessary.
Identifies and analyzes current and future needs and requirements in the area of messaging and/or directory services for the Division of Administration and other
departments supported by OTS staff. Reviews software products and interfaces with vendors as needed. Monitors and updates procedures documentation and
change management logs in accordance with OTS guidelines.
Advises and consults with management at multiple state agencies on acquisitions capacity planning problem diagnosis technology advancements and trends.
Studies and reviews technical documents literature and trade publications in the field of Information Technology and Management.
Performs all other tasks special projects analysis studies and plans as directed.

Career Progression:This vacancy participates in a career progression group and may be filled from this recruitment as an IT Statewide Associate Engineer 1 23 or 4depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant.
