Position Overview: The Middle School Intensive Reading Teacher at Just for Girls Middle focuses on improving students reading skills particularly those who are struggling or need additional support. This role involves developing lesson plans that meet state learning standards fostering a positive learning environment and developing and maintaining relationships within our community collaborators and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities: Professional expertise assessment preparation student evaluation classroom management behavior modeling enrichment programs communication and community engagement.
Qualifications:
- State teaching certification in English grades 5-9 or Middle Grades Integrated Curriculum grades 5-9.
- Reading endorsement or ability to obtain.
- Ability to work as a team or independently.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability and experience to engage the interest of school-age girls.
- Ability to work with diverse children including those with special needs.
- Ability to work well with parents or guardians.
- Ability to evaluate tests and measurements of achievement.
- Willingness to be held accountable for student results.
- Must have a clear Level II background check and 3 personal and professional references.
- Ability to lift approximately 20 pounds.
Education and Experience:
- Undergraduate major or minor or graduate degree in education or related field.
- Teaching experience in middle grades preferably in an innovative and urban school setting.
