About the opportunity

The Head of Accommodation Operations leads the strategic and operational management of the Universitys student accommodation portfolio encompassing 2500 beds across multiple sites and a major PBSA partnership. This role is accountable for service quality safety compliance and financial sustainability while driving innovation to enhance the student experience and align with the Universitys Residential Communities Strategy . It requires anticipating sector trends and implementing strategies that balance commercial imperatives with the vision of creating vibrant uniquely Tasmanian residential communities.

With oversight of multi-million-dollar budgets and significant infrastructure assets the position demands strong leadership to build high-performing teams and foster a culture of collaboration accountability and risk management. Operating at the intersection of university strategy and student life the role engages with senior stakeholders government and industry representing the University nationally and shaping decisions that impact student success institutional reputation and financial performance. This is a high-autonomy role with substantial influence and lasting impact.

What youll do:

  • Provide expert leadership and management in the provision of statewide university accommodation facilities and services.
  • Effectively and strategically managing the ongoing planning delivery improvement and promotion of accommodation.
  • High-level communication stakeholder engagement and influencing skills with the ability to build strategic relationships.
  • Proven ability to shape and deliver a student-focused service strategy that is inclusive responsive and aligned with institutional goals.

What were looking for:

  • Proven leadership in large-scale multi-site accommodation or comparable complex service operations with demonstrated success in strategic planning financial sustainability and asset management.
  • Extensive experience leading multi-disciplinary teams driving high performance organisational change and continuous improvement while managing significant physical financial contractual and human resources.
  • Advanced expertise in contractual governance negotiation and dispute resolution including resolving complex high-stakes or sensitive matters and representing organisational interests at senior and sector levels.
  • High-level communication stakeholder engagement and influencing skills with the ability to build strategic relationships prepare authoritative reports and present to diverse audiences.

Salary details

Appointment to this role will be at HEO 10 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $163282 comprising base salary within the range of $137494 to $139557 plus 17% superannuation.
