Overview: The Junior Diesel Technician assists the Senior Diesel Technician with the inspection maintenance and repair of diesel engines and related systems in customer and dealership vehicles. This is a hands-on learning-oriented role designed to build technical skills through mentorship while ensuring high-quality workmanship safety and efficiency in the service department.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Senior Diesel Technician in diagnosing repairing and maintaining diesel engines drivetrains and related systems.
- Perform basic maintenance services such as oil changes filter replacements and fluid checks.
- Help with disassembly and reassembly of engines transmissions and major components under supervision.
- Maintain a clean organized and safe work area; properly dispose of used materials.
- Document work performed and assist with repair orders as directed.
- Operate diagnostic tools lifts and other shop equipment safely and correctly.
- Assist with vehicle inspections test drives and quality control checks.
- Support inventory of parts tools and equipment as needed.
- Follow dealership safety and environmental policies.
- Continue training and development to advance technical skill level and achieve certifications.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Completion of (or current enrollment in) an automotive/diesel technology program preferred.
- Basic mechanical knowledge and hand tool proficiency.
- Valid drivers license with a clean driving record.
- Strong attention to detail safety and teamwork.
- Ability to follow instructions and learn from experienced technicians.
- Moderate to heavy physical activity required (lifting up to 50 lbs standing bending etc.)
