Position Overview

Bicara Therapeutics Inc. is seeking aSenior Director of Accounting
to join our team. This position is critical to the Companys financial and operational success partnering with our CFO and VP of Finance/Controller as Assistant Controller on strategic initiatives. Responsibilities

Partner with the CFO and VP of Finance on strategic initiatives including SOX 404b implementation commercial launch readiness Audit Committee and implementation of scalable systems to support commercial operations
Lead the preparation and review of SEC filings (Form 10K) and quarterly (Form 10Q) financial statements and other SEC filings
Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures
Lead the preparation and review of technical accounting memos for complex accounting transactions
Collaborate with other G&A teams to ensure relevant information is shared timely including legal IR and others as needed
Build cross-company relationships with key business partners involved in significant accounting activities to ensure processes are effective and controls are sufficient
Review corporate tax returns
Prepare and review journal entries account reconciliations accruals and other month end quarter end and year end close process
Supports the companys financial objectives by providing financial analyses and recommendations
Develop and design supporting schedules addressing estimates for certain accounting areas such as manufacturing and research and development
Ensure compliance with US GAAP SEC reporting and internal control requirements
Identify opportunities to streamline and improve the close and reporting process including evaluating systems enhancements
Lead mentor and develop accounting team members
Lead special project and ad hoc reporting as necessary

Basic Qualifications

Bachelors degree in accounting
CPA required; active CPA license preferred
10 years of related accounting experience with 3 years working in a biotech/pharma company
Experience working in a public company
Experience with accounting at a commercial-stage company

Strong knowledge of US GAAP and SOX principles
Detail oriented self-starter with ability to think strategically and effectively prioritize while managing various projects simultaneously
Excellent verbal and written communication skills ability to work collaboratively with other parts of the business including key internal/external stakeholders and executive leadership
Ability to be flexible and continuously drive processes deliverables and timelines in a dynamic fast-paced environment.
