Job Summary

The school is seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic ASD Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team and make a lasting difference.

Requirements

The Role:
  • Supporting students with Autism across various year groups.
  • Working 1:1 and in small groups to help children access the curriculum.
  • Promoting communication independence and emotional regulation.
  • Assisting with sensory needs and behaviour strategies.
  • Collaborating with teachers therapists and SENCOs to deliver personalised support.
What Were Looking For:

> Experience working with children or young people with Autism

> A patient empathetic and adaptable nature

> A good understanding of SEN and strategies to support ASD

> Strong communication skills and a team-player attitude

> A valid Enhanced DBS Adult and Child (or willingness to obtain one)

Required Education:

Postgraduate qualification or accredited training in SEND (e.g. National Award for SEN Coordination Autism Education Trust dyslexia/SpLD or SEMH specialism).Proficiency in alternative/augmentative communication methodsMakaton PECS AAC using evidence-based interventions such as TEACCH SCERTS or Positive Behaviour in Team-Teach MAPA or similar de-escalation and safe-handling with assistive ed-tech tools and adaptive software
