Position Summary:
The Packaging Engineer is responsible for designing sourcing testing and
implementing packaging solutions across multiple food categories. This role
supports customers sustainability goals regulatory compliance and innovation
pipeline while collaborating cross-functionally with category teams suppliers and
ESG leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design source and test packaging for 12 food categories.
- Coordinate label and artwork formatting for packaging.
- Manage packaging needs for Customer Test Kitchen.
- Gather and report sustainability data aligned with Customer Green Challenge goals.
- Collect and report EPR data for food packaging and proprietary beverages (cups
lids straws etc.). - Maintain vendor qualification and support audits.
- Develop and maintain packaging and sustainability project pipelines.
- Prioritize projects based on regulatory requirements and strategic goals.
- Maintain Packaging Tracker and provide monthly/quarterly updates to Customer leadership.
- Attend category support meetings and trade shows relevant to packaging and sustainability.
- Conduct market research on sustainability convenience store trends and competitor packaging.
- Manage packaging specifications and documentation via TraceGains Specright.
- Support QA tracking and reporting for packaging-related issues.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Packaging Engineering Materials Science or related field.
- 2 years of experience in packaging development preferably in food or retail.
- Strong understanding of sustainability regulations and packaging compliance.
- Experience with packaging specification systems (e.g. TraceGains Specright).
- Excellent project management and cross-functional communication skills
