Job Summary

Computational Engineering Division (CED) has an opening for a Protein Design Graduate Student Intern. The opening is for a graduate level student who has received a bachelors or masters degree who will be given the opportunity to engage in practical research to further their educational goals. This opportunity is specifically for a 6-to-8-month long graduate-level internship working on de novo antibody design.

You will 

  • Provide technical and/or research support to projects in the areas of computational protein design antibody engineering protein structure prediction inverse folding or related areas.
  • Gather and analyze data relating to protein-protein or antibody-antigen interactions.
  • Conduct research under limited direction and supervision.
  • Perform technical assignments of basic degree of complexity and providing technical support to scientists in scientific research and development projects.
  • Present work through presentations and/or poster sessions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

  • Must be eligible to access the Laboratory in compliance with Section 3112 of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). See Additional Information section below for details.
  • Must be a continuing student in good standing at an accredited institution pursuing a graduate degree or have completed a bachelors degree.
  • Demonstrated academic achievement in computational biology bioinformatics computer science or a related field.
  • Ability to apply computational science and/or mathematical principles to solve technical problems in structural biology.
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills.
  • Ability to present and communicate concepts and ideas.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Familiarity with one or more of the following: Python Pytorch RoseTTAFold AlphaFold Protein MPNN pymol or related computational biology tools
  • Experience working with command line and HPC environments.

Qualifications We Desire

  • GPA of 3.5 or above.
  • Excitement about working on challenging biological problems.
